COLLECTION STATEMENT:

“Earthling” explores pre-industrial design sensibilities. T-shaped and square silhouettes derive from the shape of the loom. Ties, smocking, and pleats are utilized to give shape and fit while avoiding cutting away precious fabric. Quilting gives new life to neglected materials. Fabrics are natural and durable. In these ways, a design aesthetic emerges, not through detached imagining, but from practicality, frugality, limitation, and communion with the physical and imediate world.

Plaids, stripes, and patterns inspired by famed Bauhaus weaver, Anni Albers, are juxtaposed with traditional silhouettes to create visual interest and cater to contemporary tastes.
